Rep. Joe Courtney, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 2nd district since 2007, recently shared updates on significant legislative developments and his engagements with local institutions via social media. His posts covered topics ranging from new laws benefiting seniors to upcoming discussions on national policy issues.

On February 4, 2025, Rep. Courtney announced two significant legislative achievements for senior citizens: "We recently marked two major wins for seniors. The Social Security Fairness Act, which repeals the WEP & GPO, is now law – and a $2,000/year cap on out-of-pocket Rx drug costs for Medicare Part D is now in effect." He also mentioned attending an event at the Ellington Senior Center to discuss these updates.

Later that day, he informed his followers about an upcoming radio appearance: "Tomorrow, I’m going live with Brian and Company to discuss Elon Musk's illegal overreach and the serious local consequences of President Trump's attempted funding freeze." This discussion was scheduled for February 5th at 8:50 am on WTIC 1080.

In another post dated February 4th, Rep. Courtney shared insights from his visit to Mitchell College’s Nursing Simulation Lab: "Checking in on the 'patients' at Mitchell College’s Nursing Simulation Lab." During this visit, he met with college officials including President Dr. Tracy Espy and Program Director Martha Kershaw to discuss educational initiatives.
