Fairview celebrated its brand-new Outpatient Rehabilitation Gym with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. The ceremony was led by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, and the Ocean Community Chamber. Fairview Board of Directors, residents, staff, members of the IOOF Stonington Lodge #26, members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows CT Grand Lodge, community members, a representative of Senator Heather Somers, and a representative of Senator Christopher Murphy were in attendance.
Fairview’s dream of opening a new Outpatient Rehab Gym began in 2019. The COVID pandemic delayed the project and work resumed in Spring of 2022. The generous $200,000 donation from the Connecticut Eye Bank & Visual Research Foundation, Inc. turned Fairview’s dream into a reality. Designed by Amenta Emma Architects and constructed by Carlin Construction Company, the new gym includes an exterior entrance for easy access for patients receiving outpatient therapy services and dedicated parking located across from the entrance.
“Fairview is southeastern CT’s only non-profit Life Plan Community. Being a non-profit is a critical point of difference as our customers can be assured that earned revenue supports our residents, employees, and mission. Our new state of the art outpatient rehab gym and dedicated staff will not disappoint,” shares Billy Nelson, Executive Director. “It will allow us to extend our mission beyond our campus. Our therapists specialize in complex orthopedic neurological conditions, prosthetic and ankle foot orthosis (AFO) training. Fairview is the region’s only senior living community to be rated Five-stars in every category of the Five-star rating system which places us in the top 1.5% of all health centers across the nation. If you have a choice on where to receive outpatient therapy, please permit Fairview to serve your needs and let us inspire you to live your best life!”
About Fairview: Fairview was founded in 1892 by the Connecticut Independent Order of Odd Fellows Grand Lodge as a non-profit provider of senior housing and healthcare, organized for the purpose of giving aid to those in need and pursuing projects for the benefit of all mankind. Today, Fairview serves the community as a Life Plan Community (commonly known and formerly designated as a Continuing Care Retirement Community) through its long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, outpatient therapy and independent living options. Fairview’s mission is to inspire individuals to live their best lives by embracing their culture of independence, compassion, and community. Fairview is located on 70 acres with riverfront views, and is the only non-profit Life Plan Community in Southeastern, CT.
