19 percent of applicants to the United States Coast Guard Academy were admitted for fall 2018

At the United States Coast Guard Academy, 97 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 64 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in New London enrolled 1,071 students in fall 2018, all in undergraduate programs, data shows. No undergraduates were transferred from another college or university.

4 percent of undergraduates are residents of Connecticut, and 91 percent are residents of other states. 4 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (63 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (10 percent).

The school admitted 19 percent of the 2,045 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 71 percent enrolled.
