He emphasized a communal stance from New London: "hands off our earned benefits!"
A follow-up statement was made by Courtney the next day on April 16, where he expressed his commitment to a cause impacting 164,000 residents. He highlighted the number of people relying on Social Security within Connecticut's Second District, noting it as the highest in any district across the state. Courtney asserted his opposition to Musk’s actions, stating, "I'm fighting back against Elon Musk to protect these hard-earned benefits."
Later on the same day, he announced a live discussion scheduled for the following day. Scheduled for 6:00 PM, the conversation aimed to delve into his efforts to safeguard vital healthcare programs like Medicaid from recent policies proposed by President Trump and the influence of Elon Musk.
