On April 9, 2025, Rep. Courtney expressed his support for J. B. K. Schlossberg's stance on trade policies with Australia. In his statement, he said, ".@JBKSchlossberg is right. Tariffs on Australia are a harmful insult." This comment indicates his opposition to tariffs, which he perceives as detrimental to diplomatic relations and economic exchanges with Australia.

The following day, April 10, 2025, Rep. Courtney criticized a budget bill supported by Republican leaders, including Speaker Johnson and President Trump. He stated, "Speaker Johnson & President Trump’s allies have completed passage of a 10-year budget bill which adds trillions to the national debt while paving the way for a billionaire tax break & huge cuts to Medicaid. I voted NO on this fiscally irresponsible bill that will hurt middle" This remark underscores his concern over fiscal policies that prioritize tax breaks for wealthy individuals while imposing significant cuts on critical healthcare programs like Medicaid.

Later on April 10, Courtney shared his position on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, criticizing the Trump administration's efforts to modify the criteria for eligible public servants. He stated, "The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program was bipartisan from the start. Now, President Trump wants to re-negotiate which public servants are eligible for PSLF. No thanks. @RepDeSaulnier & I are leading a bill to make PSLF more transparent, fairer, & easier for public servants." By advocating for a new bill alongside Rep. DeSaulnier, Courtney aims to reform the PSLF to enhance its accessibility and fairness for public workers.
