On Wednesday, August 3, 2022 multiple Waterford Emergency Services organizations will be collaborating in a training exercise at Quaker Hill Elementary School, 285 Bloomingdale Road, Quaker Hill, Connecticut. Waterford’s Police Department, Board of Education, Fire Department, Ambulance Service, Emergency Management and Dispatch Center and the First Selectman’s Office will all be participating in conjunction with neighboring police departments, hospitals and emergency service agencies.
The goal of the exercise is to simulate a significant emergency so all organizations involved become familiar with communication protocols and management of the diverse services involved so as to be better prepared to effectively deal with any possible future emergency event.
The Town is alerting the community in advance so the public is aware this is an important training exercise, not an actual emergency despite the extensive activity at and around the Quaker Hill School which will be necessary to achieve the training objectives sought by participating agencies and organizations. The Town will be providing signage to alert the community about the exercise before and during this training event.
The Town appreciates the cooperation of the public in recognizing that the training exercise will be most successful if only those actively participating in the exercise are at or near Quaker Hill School from 7:00am until 1:00pm on August 3, 2022. The Town of Waterford is committed to developing all necessary skills and experience to best protect the public’s health and safety by our remarkable team of first responders and support services.
