United Way offering free mobile food pantry stops in August

The Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center will host five drive-thru Mobile Pantries in the month of August.

As part of the Eastern CT Health Collaborative’s Mobile Health Hub,  other social service agencies will be on-site at all of the following  Mobile Pantry deployments to provide additional information, referrals,  and resources. You do not have to be in need of food in order to speak  with the other agencies and vice versa:

STONINGTON

Wednesday, August 3, 5-6 p.m.

Stonington High School, 176 South Broad Street, Pawcatuck

TVCCA will be on site providing additional resources and information

NORWICH

Wednesday, August 10, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Three Rivers Community College, 574 New London Turnpike

TVCCA and Uncas Health District will be on site providing additional resources and information

GRISWOLD

Thursday, August 18, 4-5:30 p.m.

Griswold High School, 267 Slater Avenue, Griswold

TVCCA and Uncas Health District will be on site providing additional resources and information

NEW LONDON

Wednesday, August 24, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Jennings Elementary School, 50 Mercer Street, New London

TVCCA will be on site providing additional resources and information

GROTON

Friday, August 26, 12:30-2 p.m.

St. John’s Christian Church, 346 Shennecossett Road, Groton

TVCCA will be on site providing additional resources and information

The sites are accessible for drive-thru or walk-up visitors. The goal  is to serve 150-300 families facing hunger and food insecurity in our  community at each site.

Anyone in need of food is welcome to attend and no paperwork is  necessary. Guests are asked to remain in their car and open their trunk  or have their backseat door unlocked where volunteers can place the  food. Items distributed include protein, fresh produce, and  nonperishable food items.
