Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Connecticut-Avery Point

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.3 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Connecticut-Avery Point, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Connecticut residents paid $13,648 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $810 more than the $12,838 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 163.9 percent more than residents this year, or $36,016. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 3.2 percent from $34,906 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Connecticut residents.

Data shows 82 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 140 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.4 million and 107 students took out student loans totaling more than $601,605.

Including all undergraduates (571), 353 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.2 million, and 296 students took out $1.8 million in federal student loans.
