Rep. Joe Courtney, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut's 2nd district, recently addressed several issues through a series of tweets. The congressman, who has been in office since 2007 after replacing Rob Simmons, voiced his support for equal pay and expressed concerns over changes to the Social Security Administration.

On March 25, 2025, Rep. Courtney highlighted gender pay disparity with the statement: "Women make on average only 75 cents for every dollar men make. That’s unacceptable." He mentioned his role as a co-sponsor of the Paycheck Fairness Act alongside Rosa DeLauro, aimed at ensuring equal pay for equal work.

Later that day, he criticized Elon Musk's involvement with the Social Security Administration: "Elon Musk is gutting the Social Security Administration, and it’s leading to worse service for Americans." He expressed concern over President Trump's decision to grant Musk significant power over these programs.

On March 26, 2025, Rep. Courtney reiterated his concerns regarding Social Security by stating: "Last year, President Trump promised that he won’t touch Social Security. Well, now we’re finding out that the opposite is true." He emphasized that Musk has been given unchecked authority affecting Social Security operations and services.
