ALICE Saves, a program of Connecticut United Ways, helps working families kick start their savings and get on a path to financial security. It combines two award-winning programs, SaverLife and TrustPlus.
ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. In New London County, 23% of households are ALICE, meaning they are working but still cannot make ends meet. Another 10% of households are living below the poverty line.
ALICE Saves provides savings rewards and financial coaching to help families establish and maintain good financial habits, as well as building an emergency fund for unplanned expenses. All programs are offered at no cost to Connecticut residents.
This free matched savings program provides cash rewards for building an individual’s savings as follows:
• $25 virtual gift card for signing up;
• $20 match for saving $60 every three months for new savers; and
• Every quarter, join the Race to $200 challenge. Save $200 for a chance to win up to $1,000.

To earn the savings match, link a bank account or PayPal and the match will begin on the first day of the following month.
