Always Home Welcomes New Board Members

Always Home is excited to announce the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors: Joshua Carter, Lauren Cipriani-Espineira and Robert Sampson, who will also serve as Board Treasurer. Elected at the October Annual Board meeting, each new volunteer member brings experience, knowledge and compassion for Always Home’s mission, Preventing Family Homelessness.

Joshua Carter, Executive Director, Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center

Carter is a Wakefield, RI resident, proud of his Mashantucket-Narragansett Indian heritage and his 20+ years working with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods Resort Casino. He has extensive experience developing and implementing effective employee recruitment and retention strategies. Chosen to lead the Pequot Museum a little over a year ago, Carter is passionate about sharing the history and culture of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

Lauren Cipriani-Espineira, Director of Operations, Orthopedic Surgery, Hartford Healthcare|Backus Hospital

Cipriani-Espineira recently moved to Norwich to join Backus Hospital’s Orthopedic Surgery Department where she is responsible for providing strategic planning and operational leadership. Previously, Cipriani-Espineira worked as a Physician Assistant at Boston Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center treating orthopedic patients, assisting in surgeries and supporting clinical research.  Since 2019, she has worked in a supervisory role overseeing a team of advanced practice providers and guiding clinical growth and development.

Robert Sampson, Founder and CEO, RJS Financial Group

Sampson is a resident of Mystic and an independent Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Consultant in Gales Ferry. At his company, RJS Financial Group, Sampson strives to help families achieve abundant lives through improved financial security. Prior to starting his financial planning business, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Flight Officer for the Sea Control Squadron 24 (VS-24).

“Both individually and as a group, Joshua, Lauren and Bob have a lot of enthusiasm,” said Always Home’s Board President, Annemarie Seifert. “Each, in their own unique way, will contribute to furthering our mission.” Seifert added, “Always Home’s Board and staff are dedicated to advancing the lives of every family member we serve. Because homelessness negatively impacts the well-being of children, our agency makes every effort to prevent homelessness before it happens so that a child never experiences the lasting trauma of homelessness.”

Last fiscal year Always Home served 286 families in housing crisis (892 family members including 523 minor children). By combining case management services, short-term financial housing assistance and targeted support to overcome recurring issues like loss of transportation or lack of childcare, Always Home helped nearly 100% of these families avoid eviction, homelessness or time spent in emergency shelter. Only one family needed emergency sheltering until a housing solution was established.
