On Wednesday, August 24th Thames River Heritage Park Foundation’s board of directors announced a public campaign to raise funds to refurbish and launch the Nautilus, the Park’s third water taxi.
With addition of the 3rd boat, the Park will create a new route from the new Nautilus dock at SUBASE New London to City Pier connecting both the cities of New London and Groton with the Submarine Force Library and Museum, the historic ship Nautilus, and their 200,000 annual visitors.
Individual donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $15,000, from a fund established with personal contributions from members of the Foundation’s board.
“The board is deeply committed to extending the water taxi service to the Submarine Force Library and Museum and the Nautilus. The matching fund exemplifies the board members’ dedication to both supporting the heritage sites and promoting tourism along the Thames,” stated Catherine Foley, executive director.
