Town of Stonington: Stonington COVID Response Grants

Town of Stonington: Stonington COVID Response Grants

Town of Stonington issued the following announcement on March 17.

Stonington is delighted to have the opportunity to partner with  the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce to offer this opportunity for a  one-time allocation of funds to help small businesses and nonprofits in  our community. The program is funded with $62,000 of the Town of  Stonington’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation of funds and is  intended to support investments that help our local economy continue to  address COVID-19 impact and recovery.

Our small business and  nonprofit community are such a big part of what makes Stonington so  special. This was only highlighted more throughout the pandemic. While  we wish this allocation of funds could be larger, we are so grateful for  the opportunity to give something back, given how much these businesses  and nonprofits have given to our community.

The program was the  result of a proposal made by the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce  during our community input process surrounding the ARPA allocation of  funding for Stonington. The OCCC is partnering with the Town of  Stonington by providing administrative services and serving as fiduciary  agent.

There are two types of funding available: grants for  projects that include physical improvements to property, or  COVID-related reimbursement funding (i.e., expenses linked to closures  or PPE). Grants require a 100% match by the applicant.

The Deadline to Apply is March 31, 2022. If the program is not oversubscribed during this first round, a second round will open up with a May 1 deadline.

Thanks  are due to the Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, Ocean Community  Chamber of Commerce and voters who engaged in our ARPA funding process  for making this opportunity possible.
