Rep. Joe Courtney, who represents Connecticut’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed recent legislative and community developments in a series of posts on February 20 and 21, 2026.
On February 20, Courtney commented on a significant judicial decision, stating: “The Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling today is a landmark case that is a victory for our constitutional system of checks and balances. As the Court clearly states, President Trump never had the authority to impose sweeping tariffs. Tariffs are a tax paid for by Americans, and under” (posted at 17:39 UTC).
Later that day, Courtney highlighted efforts to support local law enforcement: “Bringing home support for community safety is a top priority for my office and I. We worked with the Town of Ledyard to secure $229,000 in federal Community Project funding for the Ledyard PD to upgrade its computer aided dispatch and records management system. On February 21, Courtney shared news from Norwich regarding infrastructure improvements: “An exciting day in Norwich. I joined Mayor Singh and President of the Norwich Community Development Corporation Kevin Brown to celebrate $600,000 in federal Community Project funding to enhance the public docks at Howard T. Courtney has represented Connecticut’s 2nd district since 2007 after succeeding Rob Simmons and previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. He was born in Hartford in 1953 and currently resides in Vernon. Courtney earned his BA from Tufts University in 1975 and his JD from the University of Connecticut in 1978.
