Rep. Joe Courtney, who represents Connecticut’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted several federal funding initiatives and local economic concerns in a series of posts on social media.

On February 18, 2026, Courtney posted about efforts to secure funding for a new community park in Pawcatuck: “Over the last two years, I worked with the talented town hall staff from the Town of Stonington to secure $850,000 in federal Community Project funding to support transformation of the unused Circus Lot in Pawcatuck into an accessible community park. First Selectman Bill”.

Later that day, he referenced support for library renovations: “The Wheeler Library is a pillar of the North Stonington community. I worked with the library Board of Trustees to secure $1M in federal Community Project funding to support long overdue renovations to the amazing historic building, improving accessibility and resiliency so the”.

On February 19, 2026, Courtney commented on trade policy impacts during a visit to a local business: “American consumers and businesses are paying the cost for President Trump’s tariffs. In Glastonbury, I visited bike shop Bicycles East. Co-owner Deb Dauphinais shared that the President’s chaotic tariff policies are hitting every part of the bike supply chain, increasing bike”.

Courtney has represented Connecticut’s 2nd district since 2007 after succeeding Rob Simmons. He previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995 and holds degrees from Tufts University and the University of Connecticut. Born in Hartford in 1953, he currently resides in Vernon.
