Rep. Joe Courtney, who represents Connecticut’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has highlighted recent local initiatives and challenges in a series of posts on social media.
On March 10, 2026, Courtney shared his participation in an event focused on affordable housing in New London. He wrote, “The number one way to lower housing costs is the build more homes. Courtney has served as a member of Congress since 2007 after succeeding Rob Simmons and previously held office in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon at age 70, Courtney graduated from Tufts University with a BA before earning his JD from the University of Connecticut.
