On June 1, 2025, Rep. Courtney emphasized the importance of accessible behavioral health services for all residents. He stated that “Every resident should have access to high-quality, affordable behavioral health services.” He mentioned meeting with UCFS1877 to discuss how federal funding is making significant progress in addressing mental health and substance use crises in eastern Connecticut.
Later that day, he attended the reopening of the East Haddam Swing Bridge, which was refurbished using federal infrastructure law funding. Rep. Joe Courtney has been serving in Congress since replacing Rob Simmons in 2007 and has previously served in Connecticut’s House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon, he holds degrees from Tufts University and the University of Connecticut.
