Rep. Joe Courtney, who represents Connecticut’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing the Trump Administration’s decision to halt work on the Revolution Wind offshore energy project and discussing labor developments with the Electric Boat Metal Trades Council.
On September 4, 2025, Courtney highlighted an inquiry by his colleague regarding the wind project: “My colleague @Rep_Magaziner asked a simple question to a Trump Administration official to provide a reason for why they halted an 80% complete offshore wind energy project, putting hundreds of jobs at risk and squandering a much-needed energy supply expansion for CT & RI.” On the same day, he followed up with another post criticizing the administration’s actions: “The Trump Administration’s unjustifiable halt work order on the Revolution Wind project is going to cause immediate and significant harm. The project is 80% complete! Given the hundreds of jobs on the line and the need for more energy supply to lower Connecticut energy costs,”
A day later, on September 5, Courtney shared details about his engagement with local labor leaders: “I had a good visit with the Electric Boat Metal Trades Council this morning and discussed the Navy submarine construction plans, AUKUS, and the wage improvement funding that Congress passed in 2024. That wage improvement has been included in the MTC labor contract. Thank you to”
Courtney has served as U.S. Representative for Connecticut’s 2nd District since 2007 after succeeding Rob Simmons. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon, Courtney holds degrees from Tufts University (BA) and University of Connecticut (JD).
