Rep. Joe Courtney, U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 2nd district since 2007, posted a series of tweets addressing the Trump Administration’s recent order to halt the Revolution Wind project and highlighting a local community event in Vernon.
On August 23, 2025, Courtney wrote, “This Trump Administration order to halt the Revolution Wind project cites national security concerns, but in 2023, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management already analyzed and addressed national security concerns for the project with the Department of Defense. By terminating this https://t.co/a4j4Gowy8G”.
Continuing his criticism on August 25, 2025, he stated, “The Trump Admin is claiming vague national security ‘concerns’ to justify halting work on the Revolution Wind project that is 80% complete. Here are the facts. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management already analyzed & resolved all national security issues for the project with https://t.co/qhxKmhzqIz”.
In a separate post on August 24, 2025, Courtney highlighted a local celebration: “Last week, we celebrated Vernon history with the unveiling of a dazzling mural depicting some of the iconic scenes of the Rockville community. The mural was commissioned by Matt Hickey, owner of Tri Towne Lube & Repairs and brilliantly composed and painted by local mural artist https://t.co/zKZmUjPtXF”.
Courtney has represented Connecticut’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Rob Simmons in 2007 and previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon, Courtney holds degrees from Tufts University (BA) and the University of Connecticut (JD).
