On July 24, 2025, Courtney commented on Australia’s financial contribution to U.S. submarine manufacturing under the AUKUS partnership: “Today, Australia made a $500 million payment into the U.S. Submarine Industrial Base. Unprecedented support from an ally. It’s only happening because of AUKUS.”
Joe Courtney has represented Connecticut’s 2nd District since 2007 and previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon, Courtney holds degrees from Tufts University and the University of Connecticut.
