Rep. Joe Courtney, who represents Connecticut’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several topics in a series of posts on April 13, 2026, including workforce development in eastern Connecticut, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the impact of U.S. foreign policy on domestic energy prices.
On April 13, 2026, Courtney wrote about efforts to provide career opportunities for young people in his district: “With such high demand for skilled workers across multiple industries in eastern Connecticut, I’m committed to providing young people with opportunities to gain in-demand skills for future careers. Later that day, he recognized Yom HaShoah: “Today is Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, a day to honor the lives of the 6 million Jewish people and many other innocent victims who were murdered by the Nazi regime. Their lives must never be forgotten, and we must ensure that Hitler’s evil is never seen again.”
In a separate post on April 13, Courtney commented on international affairs and their domestic consequences: “President Trump’s War of Choice in Iran has triggered an international energy crisis that has driven up the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel for hardworking Americans. No one should wonder if they can afford to drive to work, to the grocery store, or to drop their children off at”.
Joe Courtney has served as U.S. Representative for Connecticut’s 2nd District since replacing Rob Simmons in 2007. Before his tenure in Congress began nearly two decades ago, he served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon at age 70, Courtney graduated from Tufts University with a BA and later earned a JD from the University of Connecticut.
