Rep. Joe Courtney, U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 2nd district since 2007, addressed a range of issues in a series of tweets posted on July 16 and 17, 2025.

On July 16, Courtney commented on violence in the West Bank and his legislative efforts to address it. He wrote, “The brutal killing of Palestinian-American Sayfollah Musallet must be met with justice and accountability. Settler violence in the West Bank continues to surge. I’m a co-sponsor of the West Bank Violence Prevention Act, which seeks to prevent settler violence and hold those who”.

Later that day, Courtney shared an update about local infrastructure for the Connecticut National Guard. He stated, “Last weekend, I stopped by the under-construction CT National Guard Putnam Readiness Center to see its progress. It won’t be long before the new Readiness Center is a reality. This federally funded project will ensure that the Guard returns to the Quiet Corner!”

On July 17, Courtney marked a community milestone in Putnam, Connecticut. He posted, “Really great to join Putnam Elks Community Day over the weekend. It was a special day to celebrate the Putnam Lodge of Elks 574’s 125th anniversary.”

Courtney has represented Connecticut’s 2nd District in Congress since defeating Rob Simmons in 2007 and previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon at age 70, he holds degrees from Tufts University (BA) and the University of Connecticut (JD).
