His posts highlight initiatives and developments concerning military housing conditions, local fire department enhancements, and the nearing completion of a senior center in Colchester.
On December 3, 2024, Rep. Courtney expressed concern over living conditions for servicemembers and their families in military housing. He stated that “far too many servicemembers and their families are living in barracks and military housing with toxic mold,” describing the situation as “unacceptable” for a nation relying on an all-volunteer force. To address this issue, he introduced his bipartisan bill titled the Healthy at Homes on Base Act “which will provide a comprehensive solution”.
On December 4, 2024, Rep. Courtney highlighted improvements made by the East Haddam Fire Department using Assistance to Firefighters grants. These upgrades include acquiring “a new fire truck,” implementing “a new comms system,” and obtaining “new protective gear.” He thanked Deputy Chief Ray Swol for briefing him on these advancements and expressed gratitude to the entire department for their efforts to ensure public safety.
Later that same day, Rep. Courtney visited the nearly completed Colchester Senior Center ahead of its grand opening. He noted that “the new Colchester Senior Center is years in the making” and praised local officials who worked diligently to secure funding to bring this project to fruition.
