NORWICH, CT – On June 9, Rep. Courtney (CT-02) delivered a $1,012,194 federal grant to Generations Family Health Center to support its health services across northeast Connecticut.

“For years, eastern Connecticut residents have relied on Generations for affordable, accessible, high-quality health care. This new federal funding will allow the organization to keep its fees low for care while maintaining its legacy of meeting patients where they are. I am confident that Generations will put this funding to good use and continue to be a valuable community partner under Missy’s leadership,” said Rep. Courtney (CT-02).

“The federal funding we receive at Generations is a vital part of our mission as a community health center, and we are extremely grateful to Congressman Courtney for his tireless support for access to high quality care for our patients. We use these funds to offer a sliding fee scale to our patients for their medical, dental, and behavioral health care, as well as provide essential services such as outreach and care coordination. Our employees work hard every day to address the complex health needs of our patients, and they do it by meeting them where they are at – whether that is at one of our facilities, via telehealth, or in the community. We appreciate that Congressman Courtney is a true partner in our mission, fighting for the basic right of access to care,” said Melissa Meyers, CEO of Generations.

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Center Cluster grant program. The program provides funding to support local health centers across the country, especially in rural and geographically isolated areas.

The federal grant comes after Rep. Courtney delivered over $727,000 from the American Rescue Plan to Generations in October of 2021 to expand its operations and services with infrastructure enhancements, giving the health center capacity to treat more patients.

Generations Family Health Center network has locations in Willimantic, Norwich, Putnam, and Danielson, as well as two school-based health centers in Putnam.
