WestConn Wolves, featuring former Waterford High standout Juan Morel, were narrowly defeated 71-69 by the Catholic Cardinals on Friday, March 6, in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament.
The contest was held at Cousens Gymnasium at 3:30 p.m., marking the teams’ first meeting in the tournament.
Connecticut College is ranked 70th out of more than two hundred schools in this year’s Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup winter standings. The ranking is based on strong performances by several teams including men’s swimming and diving. Final standings will be announced following spring championships.
Seven Connecticut College basketball players have been named to this year’s CSC Academic All-District teams. The awards recognize excellence both on the court and in academics. Honorees now advance for consideration as Academic All-Americans.
On Tuesday, March 24, these former Southeast Connecticut area high school standouts will be in action.
