U.S. Representative Joe Courtney, who serves Connecticut’s 2nd district, recently highlighted several initiatives and events in his constituency through a series of posts on social media.
On February 21, 2026, Courtney posted about workforce development efforts in eastern Connecticut: “The Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board’s Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative is expanding its classes across the Second District to meet all-time high demand for hiring at the Groton shipyard. On Thursday, I joined an MPI class taught by Bill McManus at Quinebaug Valley”.
The following day, on February 22, 2026, he expressed gratitude to international partners for their support during a recent emergency involving a U.S. submariner: “Thank you to our friends and allies Denmark and Greenland for providing emergency care to a U.S. submariner from the USS Delaware, home-ported in Groton, CT. That’s what friends are for.”
Later that same day, Courtney shared details of federal investment aimed at local redevelopment: “This week, I visited 65 Main Street in Thompson, a blighted property that is being redeveloped with the help of $732,007 in new Community Project federal funding that I worked with the Town of Thompson to secure in the FY26 budget. Joe Courtney has represented Connecticut’s 2nd district in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Rob Simmons. He previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995 and was born in Hartford in 1953. Courtney currently resides in Vernon and holds degrees from Tufts University and the University of Connecticut.
