Rep. Joe Courtney, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 2nd District, issued several updates via Twitter, delving into international politics, local educational initiatives, and healthcare issues in May 2025.

On May 3, 2025, Courtney, as Co-Chair of the U.S. Congressional Friends of Australia Caucus, publicly extended a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. In the tweet, he stated, “As Co-Chair of the U.S. Congressional Friends of Australia Caucus, I extend a hearty congratulations to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his impressive victory and kudos to Peter Dutton for his gracious concession. It was a hard-fought race. Australia’s democracy is vibrant.”

Later that day, Courtney celebrated a local educational achievement on May 3, 2025. He tweeted about visiting Grasso Tech for a welding competition, emphasizing the effort of students in preparing for careers in shipbuilding. “Eastern Connecticut high school students are skilling up for careers in shipbuilding. This week, I joined a welding competition at Grasso Tech with high school students from across the region. Kudos to these students for being at the forefront of our region’s revitalized.”

On May 4, 2025, Rep. Courtney turned his focus to healthcare, particularly concerning non-profit organization Easterseals. He raised concerns about the future of Medicaid in eastern Connecticut. In his tweet, he discussed the organization’s reliance on Medicaid funds, stating, “The non-profit Easterseals provides critical services to children and adults with disabilities in eastern CT. A majority of the people they serve receive care through Medicaid. I spoke with Easterseals this week about the devastating impacts the GOP’s planned Medicaid cuts would.”
