U.S. Representative Joe Courtney, who serves Connecticut’s 2nd district, posted several updates on his social media account on March 26 and 27, 2026, addressing issues ranging from gender pay equity to federal agency funding and local sports.
On March 26, Courtney highlighted the ongoing issue of wage disparity between men and women by stating, “March 26th is Equal Pay Day. On average, a woman makes on 81 cents for every dollar a man makes, so a woman would need to work until today to make what a man made in 2025. The pay gap is only getting worse. It’s past time that Congress passes @RosaDeLauro’s Paycheck Fairness”.
Later the same day, he commented on the potential funding shortfall for key federal agencies due to disagreements over immigration policy: “The Coast Guard, TSA, FEMA, and more critical DHS agencies should not go unfunded because the President refuses basic, commonsense ICE reforms.”
On March 27, Courtney showed support for the University of Connecticut’s athletic teams with a brief message: “Go Huskies!”
Courtney has represented Connecticut’s 2nd congressional district since 2007 after succeeding Rob Simmons. He previously served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1953 and currently residing in Vernon, Courtney holds degrees from Tufts University and the University of Connecticut.
