The Connecticut College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and The Hidden Opponent held a pickleball tournament fundraiser on March 26 at Luce Field House.
The event brought together student-athletes and faculty or staff members, with each team including at least one member from the college’s staff. A total of 18 teams participated in the single-elimination tournament. The team consisting of Arjun Premkumar, Noa Hoshino, and Molly Holt won the competition.
According to organizers, the tournament raised $200 for The Hidden Opponent. This non-profit organization supports athlete mental health advocacy by providing education, resources, and fostering a global community to empower athletes to prioritize their mental health.
Faculty Athletics Representative Stan Ching was thanked by SAAC for his role in organizing the event. Faculty and staff participants included Molly Holt, Wade McNamara, Julia SanGiovanni, Jillian Marshall, Rebecca Nash, Yongjin Park, Andy Strickler, Katie Tijerina, Kiah Strickland, Daphne Michie, Ryley van der Velde, Kevin Steel, Emily Moniz, Karen Pezzetti, Mark Stelzner, Andrea Chapdelaine, Harris Padegs, Charlie Anderson and Josh Edmed.
Events like this are part of ongoing efforts at Connecticut College to support mental health awareness among student-athletes while encouraging collaboration between students and faculty.
